The Oxyboks has a starter cartridge which, even while the user is putting on the unit, supplies oxygen via the mouthpiece immediately and independently of the initial breathing phase. This effectively bridges the first few vital seconds eliminating the necessity of the user breathing in polluted air whilst getting the apparatus into position.
